Još prema pisanju časopisa US Weekly 2013. godine, 43 milijuna dolara Hefnerovog bogatstva dijeli se između njegovo četvero djece, Sveučilišta Južna Kalifornija i nekolicine dobrotvornih udruga čiji je rad tijekom godina podržavao. No, mnogi se pitaju što je s njegovom slavnom kućom, Playboy Mansionom, gdje je Hugh Hefner često organizirao raskalašene partyje.

Kako piše Variety, luksuzna vila koja se nalazi u Holmby Hillsu u Los Angelesu pripast će pravom vlasniku, susjedu Darenu Metropoulosu. Premda je ondje živio gotovo pet desetljeća, Hefner nije bio vlasnik Playboy Mansiona već njegova firma, Playboy Enterprises. Tvrtka je vilu prodala u kolovozu prošle godine susjedu bogatašu za 100 milijuna dolara, sinu milijardera C. Dean Metropoulosa. Obzirom da je već tad bio narušenog zdravlja, Hefner i Metropoulos su potpisali ugovor prema kojemu Hefner može ostati ondje do kraja života uz godišnju rentu od milijun dolara.

Vila sa 29 soba izgrađena je u kasnogotskom stilu polovicom dvadesetih godina prošlog stoljeća prema zamislima arhitekta Arthura Kellyja Jr., nasljednika trgovačkih lanaca. Kuća je kasnije došla u posjed izumitelja medicinskih aparata i šahista Louisa Stathama koji ju je prodao Hefneru 1971. Vlasnik Playboya tad je iskeširao rekordnu svotu od 1,05 milijuna dolara.

30-godišnji Metropoulos navodno planira spojiti susjedna imanja, no još se ne zna hoće li nastaviti Hefnerovim stopama, barem po pitanju partyja. Inače, na Holmby Hillsu žive i osnivač Napstera Sean Parker, glazbenik Puff Daddy, redatelj Sir Ridley Scott, frontmen grupe Maroon 5 Adam Levine, Googleov milijarder Eric Schmidt te nasljednica bivšeg vlasnika Formule 1 Petra Ecclestone Stunt.
