U Mosulu, iračke snage nastavljaju napredovanje u istočnim dijelovma grada, u kojima militanti ISIS-a pružaju snažan otpor. Broj raseljenih civila nakon početka ofenzive prešao je 34.000, prema podacima koje je u ponedjeljak iznio Međunarodni ured za migracije (OIM).

Brojne izbjeglice koji bježe iz svojih razrušenih domova predstavljaju problem i za samu iračku vojsku, budući da su nepregledne kolone ljudi idealne za pokušaj bijega džihadista. Iračka vlada i ostale organizacije još ranije su upozoravale da se broj dezertera ISIS-a povećava iz dana u dan, a džihadistima je jedina nada za bijeg iz Mosula infiltriranje u kolone očajnih ljudi.

I fotoreporterka Reutersa u ponedjeljak je naišla na trenutak kada su irački vojnici među grupom civila izdvojili osumnjičenog člana ISIS-a. Mladića su izdvojili iz skupine i odmah ga zavezali. Za to vrijeme njegova majka sa strane je plakala i molila vojnike da puste njezina sina.
