Joe Corre, sin menadžera Sex Pistolsa Malcolma McLarena i modne dizajnerice Vivienne Westwood, spalio je u subotu svoju kolekciju memorabilija vezanih uz začetak punka, pokreta koji su osmislili njegovi roditelji.

"Punk nikada nije zamišljen da bude nostalgičan", rekao je Joe Corre okupljenima prigodom svog čina koji je organiziran upravo na 40. obljetnicu izlaska prvog singla Sex Pistolsa kojim je započet punk pokret.

Corre, osnivač brenda donjeg rublja Agent Provocateur, protivi se planiranom obillježavanju 40 godina punk subkulture uz brojna događanja, izložbe i koncerte. "Punk nikada nije trebao biti nostalgičan i ne možeš naučiti biti punker na radionici u londonskom muzeju", rekao je u subotu Corre, kako prenosi BBC.

Pritom je dodao kako je punk postao još jedan marketinški alat za prodaju nečega što ne trebate, "iluzija alternativnog izbora, konformitet u drugom obliku".

Basist Sex Pistolsa Glen Matlock u svom komentaru za Sky News bio je kritičan prema Correovom istupu: "Parafrazirao bih Montyja Pythona - on nije naš spasitelj, on je zloćko. Mislim da Joe nije antikrist, mislim da je budala."

Vivienne Westwood, koja se na sinovljevom prosvjedu obratila prosvjednicima s porukom da se okrenu zelenoj energiji, drugačijeg je mišljenja: "Ovo je prvi korak prema slobodnom svijetu, To je najvažnija stvar koju ikada možete učiniti u svom životu".
